Perspective is everything. Even the most optimistic person will have to adjust perspective.
We get very comfortable with certain securities in life. We lose sight of the fact that life comes with no gaurantees and, as you said - "if something bothers you enough its up to you to change it."
Sometimes that change is simply a change in perspective.
